Becky Butterworth, on March 4th, 2012 Here’s an opportunity to win your mum a Nottingham Lifestyle photography shoot. On Sunday the 18th March it’s Mother’s day so we thought we’d arrange a little competition. Being a mum myself I know what a special day Mother’s Day is, and that it’s great to have that extra special love (and hopefully attention) on such a day.
We’re offering the chance to win your mum a family lifestyle shoot in Nottingham or Derby, which can be taken Monday-Friday before 1st October 2012. You’ll also have included a gift voucher for a wonderful £100 to spend on beautiful prints from your session. The winner will be contacted by email and we’ll arrange to post your gift voucher in time for Mother’s Day, especially presented with your answer as to why you think your mum is so precious.

So my answer to the question would be; My mum is very precious to me because, she’s been such a support in my life, helping me and my family to achieve our aspirations. She’s so gentle and kind-hearted yet at times of great sadness she’s so strong. Each day we become closer, as mum and daughter and as friends.

How we capture our lifestyle portraits using natural light
Using a digital SLR without using the ‘auto’ mode
Making sure those you photograph feel relaxed and enjoy their session
An introduction to editing your lifestyle images
Practice, Practice, Practice …. the opportunity to capture images with our guidance in a relaxed and friendly environment
The session will be held in and around our Mill studio in Nottingham, starting 9.45am finishing 4-4.30, it includes an adult model in the morning and child(ren) photo session in the afternoon. They’ll be refreshments throughout the day and of course lunch. The workshop fee is £80.
Places are limited to just eight delegates, with support by both Neil & Becky.

Becky Butterworth, on February 28th, 2012 Last Saturday, Neil Captured the opening of the new Nottingham bridal boutique, The Wedding Room. Mary contacted us a little while ago after seeing us in Save The Date wedding magazine asking if we’d be able to join her to celebrate the opening of her new boutique in Chilwell, Nottingham. The Wedding Room hosts a beautiful selection of Charlotte Balbier wedding dresses along with showcasing their other services to help make your wedding day so very special.
Mary arranged a Nottingham Commercial Lifestyle shoot with us to capture the opening and capture The Wedding Room in all its glory.

Neil Butterworth, on January 21st, 2012 I was very delighted to have been asked by Laura to take some maternity photographs for her. Our shoot took place in Draycott Derbyshire and I asked Laura to bring with her the hospital bag that she’s got all ready for baby due to be arriving in February.
Maternity Photography is something I so very, very much enjoy doing, as a mum myself I know how precious this time can be, those last few weeks before baby arrives you really start hugging your own tummy and imagining what this wonderful bump is going to look like once they arrive.
As you might guess from some of the cute blue pieces Laura and her husband are expecting a baby boy, they’ve been preparing from him coming into the world with some cuties rabbit, rattle booties and some special cuddly toys.
During the photo shoot Laura and I chatted about her pregnancy, and it was fabulous to see how excited she was as she talked about all!
We wish you all the very best Laura, what exciting times are ahead for you all! Enjoy every minute of it, as like they say, they grow up so quickly so forget the ironing and washing up, cuddles are far more rewarding!!

Becky Butterworth, on January 9th, 2012 Just a couple of weeks before Christmas I met with Sophie and her family for their Derbyshire Lifestyle Photography shoot. We met in the Derbyshire countryside at their fathers land on a December day that still had a sprinkle of frost on the ground.
The lifestyle shoot started with the families horse, who’s so laid back she even walked herself in from the field to the stable to have her head collar and new blanket on. Spending some special time with the girls we then took some photographs around the yard and up into the woods to finish.
Sophie purchased the images as gifts for Christmas and I hear the family thought they were a wonderful present! I think so too, you can have too much talc but never enough photographs!

Neil Butterworth, on January 7th, 2012 We have just a couple of places left on our Introduction to Lifestyle Photography Workshop. It’s all happening on Saturday 4 February in Draycott Derbyshire, 9.30am – 4.30pm. The day will include an introduction to lifestyle portraits using natural light and we’ll have two models during the day to photograph.
This session is fabulous for those who have recently purchased a new digital SLR camera and want to take it out of the ‘auto’ setting. You’ll then be able to practice your photography on a professional model whilst we provide some guidance and tips. In the afternoon we’ll introduce how we photograph children and put some of these new skills into practice on our junior model.
The cost for the day is £80, this includes refreshments and lunch. You’ll need to bring your Digital SLR camera and lenses with you, along with memory cards and enthusiasm. Also a warm coat as we’ll be shooting outdoors for part of the session!

Becky Butterworth, on January 6th, 2012 I had the privilege of photographing Lauren, Tobias, and Family just before Christmas. We decided to meet at Elvaston Castle and a stroll around some of the 200 acres of woodland and parkland.
As I arrived I was greeted by hundreds of Santa’s preparing for a fun run. We all had a great time walking, viewing the wildlife and climbing the rocks, you can see in the first image Tobias spotting the ducks down by the water.
Not to mention a big brown, wet, muddy Labrador running into my legs… splat whilst I was shooting.

Neil Butterworth, on January 1st, 2012 As soon as my calendar turns to the 1st January I begin to think forward to the Spring/Summer time, which leads me to my latest blog post. Jackie Thompson contacted me a little while back asking if I could arrange a Commercial Lifestyle Photography shoot with her to capture some images of her new Liberty print corsets. We’ve worked with Jackie now on a number of occasions photographing her beautiful bridal wear and having seen her recent range of day and evening wear corsets they’re a beautiful piece to have in your wardrobe this Summer time.
As I was capturing these images I was thinking how great they’d be for those wanting something beautifully bespoke to wear on a warm holiday evening or for a friendly BBQ on a Summers bank holiday weekend.
